Delivery services

Example: Laboratory courier services

Logistics expenses for the daily collection of the samples represent an essential cost factor in laboratory medicine. The routes are normally carried out by external or internal service providers within medium to long term route plans. Key constraints for these routes are:

  • Practice opening hours
  • Individual collection times
  • Regional structures (physicians density)
  • Organisation within the laboratory: temporal availability and workload of analysers
  • Fluctuation of physicians

The TourViewer is being used here in order to revise existing route scenarios and to simulate alternatives.

  • New senders are succesfully being incorporated into the existing plan.
  • The impact of changed collection times on the senders are made visible.
  • The efficiency of new route structures such as feeder or satellite routes can be simulated.
